I live in a city with WiFi, but cannot get on it with any mac I have tried.

Everytime I try to connect to one of these networks it tries until it times out and asks if I'd like to try again. The networks appear to have strong signals, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Any help?

Check with the service provider, possibly they don't support macs. But I don't really see that happening, since most macs can connect to just about any wifi network. Can you connect to it with a pc from the same area?

I don't think the fact that you are using a mac should be an issue. WiFi is an industry standard, there are no other variations. All WiFi hardwre supports all WiFi, its even backward compatible. So it should work, but I think you should contact your service porvider. Perhaps you live in a lead-enclosed building which can't be penetrated by any type of radio wave? Or maybe not?

I'm jealous that your city has a city-wide wireless network! I can't even get a mobile phone signal in the valley I live in!

Good luck!

Tom
