Hi folks,

I had to replace the hard drive in my MacBook Pro because it was failing. After installing the new hard drive(and replacing the Superdrive because it apparently had gone bad too), when I put in the install CD now it goes in to the screen where I pick the language, then after I click it says "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this system."

I've read other threads on here similar to this that said go to Disk Utility and format the drive. Problem with that is it wont let me click on anything in the menu bar pull downs. So I'm kind of stuck...

I'm assuming it's an old computer because you mention still using an install cd.

Check out the link, as it states make sure it's set-up as a GUID Partition table.

If you haven't formatted the hard drive it obviously won't work because you haven't set it up properly. You need to make a partition, make it GUID, and set it MAC OS Extended Journaled.
