Trouble installing os 10.0.3 on g3

I have a power mac g3 blue/white. It has os 9.2.2 installed. I am trying to install os 10.0.3 . When I restart computer to install, I see the smiley face computer in center of screen, and in about 30 seconds, I see a multi-color spinning disc icon in the top left corner.... that's it... it just spins and spins and nothing happens. Can anyone help... Thanks Aldo
