I’m trying to sync my iCalendar -- on my iMac -- and my Google Calendar.

I set things up using my gmail so a new calendar entry on one shows up on the other -- an entry on iCal pops up on my Google calendar and vice versa.

But the piece I’m missing is uploading all the events / data / entries / whatever you call them … that now are in iCal on my computer.

I just went in iCal -- file / export / export and created a file with the .ics extension.

Then in Google Calendar I went to “Other Calendars” and clicked on the little arrow in the box on the right. From the menu that appeared I chose “Import Calendar” I chose that .ics file and clicked “import”

After a few moments I got the error message:

“Import calendar

Processed zero events.
Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file..”

So I can work from a clean slate but can’t figure out how to get all my iCal information loaded up.

I’m running iCal 4.0.4 on an Intel i3 iMac with OSX 10.6.8. My browser is Chrome 16.0.912.77

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

I'm assuming that you have a calender in your list that's on your computer, such as "home" or "work" that these events are in. I'm also assuming you have another calendar on the list for the Google account.

You should be able to do the import/export right in iCal. Select the source catalog, do the export. Then do an import...where you'll select the new ics file and then pick the destination calendar.

Thanks Brian,

Yikes! What have I done?

Trying to sync my iCal and Google calendars:

I exported from my iCal and ended up with a .ics file.

Then -- still in iCal -- I went to file import and told it to import the .ics file and import it to the calendar named after my gmail address.

Things looked good, the windmill icon spun and events started to show up in my Google calendar -- and on my Android phone.

There were a few hiccups -- like events that spread over midnight didn’t seem to get picked up but all in all I was pleased an d just waited for the process to play itself out.

then …

With the windmill still spinning an error popped up:

------------------------------------------------------
“ The server responded with an error.

The server did not recognize your user name or password for account “[my email]@gmail.com.” Make sure you enter then correctly.

Go Offline Revert to Server”

------------------------------------------------------

It doesn’t matter which option I choose, the thing just keeps spinning and after a few moments spits back the error or a very similar one that doesn’t offer the offline / revert choice but rather asks me to say “okay”

I left the computer running all night and found things unchanged this morning.

Can’t figure out how to stop and couldn’t quit iCal.

I forced quit iCal and when I start it up again the same spinning windmill and error messages.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks Brian

I'll give it a try when I'm back at my desk. I'll keep you posted.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks
