I had full service on a recent trip to the Bahamas, but for some reason (tried with International Assist on and off) I could not make a call. Friends with regular cell phones (not iPhones) could make calls no problem, as long as you dialed a "1" before the area code and phone number. I couldn't make my iPhone dial the "1", and I'm pretty sure this was the issue. It was very frustrating, and I need to know how to bypass this issue in the future, so that I can make calls when I have service outside of the U.S. Seems like the guys at Apple made this phone too smart for its own good...Thanks for your help!
