trouble restoring iphone4.. help please

how can i restore jailbroken iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode with error 3194?
i cant get it into DFU mode. i was using cydia but tiny umbrella is saying i dont have any SHSH saved.... i've tried new firmware but id need it in DFU before i could. please help

Close iTunes before trying. If it doesn't work, reverse it.
Try entering this in terminal:

sudo nano /etc/hosts

after that, add a "# " (number sign WITH A SPACE) before anything with gs.apple.com.

After editing it should look something like this (the numbers may be different):
# 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
# 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

This worked for my friend! He was able to upgrade from jailbroken iOS 4 to iOS 5 while being factory unlocked! I hope this works!
