Trouble running Gimp on Macbook Pro

I know close to nothing about this, so bear with me here.

I downloaded the 2nd latest version of gimp (the one before the 2.8), and it was working fine for weeks. Then today, out of the blue, it decides to stop working at the most random moments. I've tried the latest version, which when I drag an image to the window, closes right away. I've also installed the x11 thing, which is supposed to support Gimp, and Gimp still closes. What I'm asking is: How am I supposed to run Gimp on Mountain Lion?

Help would be wonderful…

Gimp for Mac doesn't require X11 anymore.

I would suggest uninstalling using something like App Cleaner and then doing a fresh install.
