Trouble with Airdrop

I used to be able to send photos and Pages documents to my wife's iPad - Airpad 2 iOS 15.7.3 - with no problem and very quickly.
I think it is since my iPhone was upgraded to iOS 16 that it now does not work. The usual message asking to accept the photo appears but when she clicks accept she gets this message. see picture.

If she clicks Open with Files it seems to save just a thumbnail which can't be opened.
Is this a problem with iOS 16?

Yea, I had the same thing popup last night when transferring a file.

Have had a similar issue but from my iPhone 14 to my M1 iMac, not to my iPad mini 6.
