I bought a three pack of AirTags on 11/21/21 and all connected without any issue. About 2 weeks ago the one I use in my wallet said the battery was getting low despite the other two showing full. After a few more days it said the battery died so I replaced it. Yesterday, I used the location feature and it was unable to connect. It showed that it was at my house as far as general proximity, but could not locate the device with my phone.

I unlinked the AirTag to my device and tried to reconnect but my phone is unable to locate and pair with the tag. I reset my phone, turned off and on my bluetooth, wifi, and cellular services. I got a notice last night that an unknown AirTag has been following me. When I put the battery in this specific tag, it does make the small tone. It basically seems like the device is working for general location, but cannot connect for more focused proximity location.

Thanks in advance!

I have had a similar issue. It claimed the battery was almost empty, even though I just replaced them about 2 weeks ago. So I unlinked it from my iPhone and it wouldn't appear to reconnect but still made the "ding" sound when I picked up my keys. I still don't know exactly what the issue was / is but I took out the battery a couple of times and eventually it popped up on my iPhone. I connected them, while still pressing the battery against the AirTag by hand. Once connected, I could put back the back plate and so far so good
