Hello Forum browsers.
So I recently upgraded the ram in my iMac (mid-2011 21.5'' model, 2.7 GHz intel Core i5 processor, 16 GB memory, 1 TB hard drive). My intent was to install windows 7 on my iMac for the purpose of playing some of my steam games. Cheaper I figured to upgrade than to get a new windows computer to haul around and I figured my machine could handle it.
I get my windows 7 disk in the mail and go to install it. Quickly run into problems. Bootcamp refuses to partition my disk. After some googling I find this forum (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4907543) and follow the instructions listed in one of the replies.

I had this problem today. It turns out there was an a small issue with the directories on the disk which was easily resolved. To see if you have the same problem as me, try the following.
After this I go to run Bootcamp again. My iMac no longer accepts the windows OS DVD. I insert the disk and it spins for a bit before ejecting it. I've tested it with another disk and it accepts it without a problem. Other forums I've looked at seem to think its a hardware problem, but this seems very unlikely as it only occurred after I repaired my disk.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
*EDIT: Of note: I'm trying to install an OEM copy of Windows 7: Home Premium which should work fine with my Bootcamp 5.1

- Perform a full backup, just in case
- Launch "Disk Utility" (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
- In the left-hand panel, click on your hard drive
- Click "Verify Disk"
- If there are any errors reported, then you may have the same problem as me (I had a directory count which was wrong).
- If there are any errors, try clicking "Repair Disk".
- If repair worked successfully, try re-running Boot Camp Assistant"
