Trouble with "Email Campaign" for Mac, can't send emails, help!

I am using a program called "Email Campaign" for Mac to send out
newsletters to 30-40 people in HTML and I just set everything up using
"smtp.gmail.com" as the SMTP host, but keep receiving an error message
that says "One or more connections were unexpectedly closed by your
mail server." What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Email Campaign Advice

Considering buying email campaign to use for our company newsletter. Already purchased Direct Mail/e3 software...having nothing but problems trying to send through SMTP. Have requested refund. How do you like email campaign? Would you recommend for use with newsletters over 4.0 MB? I have been told it is difficult to use templates that come with program. Agree?
