I have an iBook G4 800Mhz with 640MB RAM and a broadband connection of 5Mb down/1Mb up. However, when I set up videoconferencing using iChat and iSight with my friend (who lives in the same city and has an eMac 1.25Ghz, 1GB RAM, 3Mb down/500kb up), the connection doctor says I'm only uploading at 140kbps.

I don't know what the problem is because when when we're on the same LAN, we can transfer closer to 1Mbps; but when we're at home and transferring across the city, we can only transfer at about 140-150kbps.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
