I am serving FTP on my PMG4 and can connect, no problem, on my LAN. I can connect by:
in Safari typing: ftp://user:password@serveraddress
or in Terminal typing: ftp serveraddress
then authenticating.
I have an AEBSn with 7.2.1 firmware and have tried forwarding port 21 and placing the entire PMG4 in the DMZ. Then when I try to log in remotely using either method above I get rejected and a message from the server that says something like: that user is not permitted to log in, access denied.
If in terminal I type:
ftp
open serveraddress
then authenticate I can get in just fine.
It seems like the AEBSn is not fast enough to pass the server and authentication information all at once. I have IP phones that need to access this server to access their configuration files and upload logs. So there is no way for me to not use passive mode.
This all worked flawlessly prior to installing the AEBSn which is leading me to believe that the problem is there. My ISP (RCN) only blocks ports 25 and 80. I had a Linksys WRT54G V2 that died on me and I went with the AirPort because I had problems with iChat off and on. I fixed that problem and created another. Oh, and did I mention that the AEBSn does not support DynDNS?
Any thoughts?
