I've had the new macbook pro for about 3 weeks without any problems. Today, my mouse and trackpad started behaving oddly. The curser constantly skips a bit to the left or the right and randomly clicks on the screen, regardless of whether the mouse is plugged in or not. Obviously, this can come tiresome quite quickly. I've tried restarting the computer and tweaking the settings, but nothing seems to work. I'm also up to date on all the software updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And no, I have not tried creating a new account. Last night I turned off my computer and left it off for about twelve hours. When I turned it back on this afternoon, the problem had disappeared, and hopefully for good. If the problem comes up again, I will follow your advice and post the results.
