Trouble with Macbook screensaver

Travelling the inland waterways of the UK
I always have my photos on my screensaver and change the albums quite often.
Today when I tried to use it all I saw was a message saying where is my screensaver with the apple loga after it.
Went to options and there were no options just that same message in the options box..
Have rebooted..and is still the same..
Anyone got any ideas?
Running High Sierra 10.13
