Trouble With Redsn0w On 4.2.1

I've attempted to jailbreak my iPod Touch 2G Non-MC a couple of times now on 4.2.1. The first it worked OK, but it kept going into safe mode even though I had no other packages installed apart from the essential. Now when I try to jailbreak, when I actually get as far as the running pineapple screen, my iPod won't leave booting screen. Am I doing something wrong or something?

DFU mode restore in iTunes and jailbreak again. Make sure that you are putting the device into DFU mode properly.

What version of redsn0w are you applying on it?
