So that new fancy 1.1.1 tiff exploiter was a GREAT program, wasn't it? Sadly there doesn't seem to be many tips/FAQs concerning all the crashing. Anyways, there are some guidelines you should be aware of to make the exploit work. I have been frustrated all day and hope this guide un-frustrates most of you with problems!
1.First thing's first: a 1.1.1 Restored iPod/iPhone is a healthy 1.1.1 iPod/iPhone!!!
Make sure you back up the necessaries like pictures, sync, etc.
2.Next you can go ahead to the jailbreakme.com and install. DON'T TOUCH!!!!
First time I went through this, as soon as Safari quit I thought it was done and too good to be true. LET IT SIT THERE AND PROCESS! You'll know it's done when the device has gone to sleep or rebooted.
3.No installer.app? That's ok, just reboot!
Don't panic not all has gone bad. I read how even someone had to reboot twice just to see their installer.app. If you still don't see it go back to the website and try again (or if you're paranoid just restore & start back at step 1). They say that if it IS installed you'll get some blue colored error on their website.
4.Oh noes! Apps crash like BOOM!!!! No worries!!!! Just install "BSD Subsystem" from installer.app.
This has fixed many of the applications and their function to boot. I've recerntly read that the dev's of jailbreakme.com are aware that some applications are completely unusable but they're working on a patch (as far as I remember from reading through these threads). Be sure to install the (NEWER) summerboard and make sure that the "Dim wallpaper" option is off. This seems to effect some of the applications - it may or may not, you can experiment yourself but just be aware that it has fixed some people's issues.
Enjoy! Hope this helped most of you! Post here if I missed something or if I'm just completely wrong
