Around my apartment I'm usually connected using airport, but when I'm at my desk if I plug in my ethernet (for a faster connection) I lose all access. The network settings are still resolving the correct IP's, and am not sure exactly what is going wrong here. If I leave it plugged in though, and restart the computer they both connect and are able to resolve the net.

Any ideas?

Check your service order in Network Preferences. Go to Network Preferences, click the gear icon in the lower left, then go to Set Service Order. I have a sneaking suspicion you have AirPort set above Ethernet when it actually should be the opposite.

Nope. Either way, even if the order was out of whack, would that warrant losing connectivity?
