Are any here responsible computer owners that have a journal detailing the work they've done on their computers so their future selves will not have to search for an answer? I've often thought about it after the need presents itself, but not before. For example, recently I had trouble installing Snow Leopard on a 2009/2010 Power Mac. The retail disc wouldn't boot the tower although it can run the OS. After a while I learned that the ATI card was too new for what the disc had. For a few minutes, I thought I might have to swap it out with a compatible card for the install. Eventually I put the tower into FireWire disc mode and installed the OS with the help of the laptop. I could have saved some time if I had a device diary to consult.
