Troubleshooting .rar files and .toast files.!!!!

Hi, I have just downloaded .rar files that need to be unrared. So I used " The Unarchiver" to change the .rar files. That changes them into .toast files, then when I click to mount the file it says "Failed to mount, file not recognized." I tried to put the file into Toast 10 but when the files are in Toast it says that there is no info in the files I am trying to mount. Please help! Everything is useful! Im a noob...
