Yes, always. Took me a day to get used to how different it was compared to, say, looking at my iPad Air/Mini 4 display, but now I really appreciate how natural it is. Much easier on the eyes, too.

This. Many seem to not underhand the nature of True Tone. For reading, it does help to intend on making the transition much easier when correcting the white point on the display based on the lighting in the room. I know some think it makes the screen yellow, but for larger displays like the iPad Pro, it's nice to have.

Nope, makes the screen look way too yellow. Then if you also turn on night shift on top on that, it is VERY yellow tinted

It'll take a bit of adjusting seeing colour accuracy implemented instead of the default cool blue you've been accustomed to for several years. Just give it a couple days.

Looks smoother with touch tone but tough to get used to

It'll be a little jarring at first, but in a couple days, it'll be a non-issue. It's all about what you're used to, but that doesn't make the other way the right way.

TrueTone is also far easier on the eyes in the long run, which is why there isn't really a need for the night shift. Just think about I; the fact nightshift was needed in the first place should have pointed out the issue with the blue hue.

I can't speak about it's relation to battery usage, but I'm assuming its equivalent to what you'd get with auto-brightness turned on.

I can't do it.

When i turned on my phone it came pre-activated and literally thought I had a faulty screen when I was doing the setup.

I heeded your folks' advice on giving it a few days - I tried and couldn't. Just too yellow for me.

I love bright white screens....just my opinion and my taste I guess.

Are you using True Tone
Yes!

I’m really fascinated by this technology. I was reading the circulars today. I noticed the white parts of the paper had the similar hue (orangish??) as the white webpage on my 8plus! It was kinda cool to see that.

Used it for the first couple of days, then decided I didn’t like it so turned it off. Decided to give it another shot and now it’s on permanently.

It’s a small change but it’s an attention to detail that I’m sure will pay off in the future as this technology gets perfected. It’s almost the same hue when compared under similar lighting conditions with regular paper. I think that is so cool!

Yes on iPad, no in iPhone, and nor would anybody if they valued colour accuracy. It's a bit too yellow, and given that I work with calibrated displays on occasion I feel somewhat qualified to compare. YMMV though depending on actual preference of course.

Yes, always.

I went back and forth with it for the first week or so, as I generally prefer cooler tints. But now I’ve left it on for a couple weeks and I think it looks great. Much easier on the eyes, too. I never even have to use night shift anymore. Also, now whenever I go back to my iPad (2017 model), the screen just looks so bad. Way too blue and actually kind of old/dull looking.

I feel like the True Tone option only looks “too yellow” when you immediately change it, just because you’re not used to it yet. For a similar example, turn your phone to max brightness and leave it for a short bit. Even a very short bit, like 10 seconds or so. Then turn it back down to where it was (I always keep mine at 50%, auto brightness disabled). Notice how it suddenly feels much too dim? I feel like True Tone color shifts work in a similar way. It’s the way your mind adapts, then notices abrupt change.

True Tone it’s plenty white, and plenty bright.

For me it’s impossible not to use it.
The screen is horribly blue without it.
But i suspect many people have night shift on WITH Truetone and maybe that’s why it looks too yellow?
Generally it’s a little warm but decent.

Switching from the iPad Pro to the Macbook or my Samsung phone, the iPad just looked unnaturally yellow. I switched it off after 3 hours of ownership.
