I’ve seen a lot of people say that True Tone ruins colour accuracy as a result of adjusting the white balance of the display to match the colour temperature of the environment, but I did some digging and found that it actually turns itself off or at least tones down the intensity to preserve the colour accuracy of photos and videos when you’re viewing them. Does this happen in other photo apps or just the stock Photos app? And also, if true, that would mean I wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of manually toggling it off every time I view my photos and videos, watch movies, edit photos and videos, and browse social media
 
Human visual processing adapts to the color tint of light to some degree.
Personally I don’t like True Tone at all because it’s always shifting. I have it turned off.

I think the best way (in my opinion) to color correct the display to your liking is to use Night Shift at a setting you like and leave it on 24/7 day and night.
That’s what I do.
