Tryed to jailbreak my iphone 3gs and now it is on emergency call only!Help

Hello,Yesterday i wanted to jailbreak my iphone 3gs so i tried it but it failed and now it is stuck on emergency calls only,And since i canceled my contract with att like 2 month ago i don"t have service and cant just pop in my sim card and activate it.I dont know what to do please help me?Some people said i might be able to go to the apple store and they can put a demo sim card and i can use it again. Thank you
