Yesterday I ordered a new 2.0GHz G5 and I have an older HP A4576 20 inch CRT monitor that I would like to use with it. I am having trouble finding out how to get an adapter so that I can use it.

On the back of the monitor are to types of connectors. One is a female HD-15 (same as VGA right?), the other is a female EVC. From what I found out, the G5 uses a single-link DVI-I connector.

I have had a lot of trouble finding a male EVC to male single-link DVI-I adapter. But I have found a male VGA (HD-15 right?) to male single-link DVI-A adapter here: http://www.si87.com/www_store/merchant.mv?Product_Code=8803&SCREEN=PROD My question is will this work?

Thanks,

Ammon

I just called Apple and the nice sales lady said that yes it does come with a VGA to DVI adapter.

I guess I didn't think about that.

Edit:

Am I going to lose significant picture quality by using the VGA input over the EVC?

Also, I read somewhere that the EVC is basically the same as DVI, but the connectors are just shaped different. Is that true?

Thanks,

Ammon
