I'm an owner of a Droid and I really want to try out an iPhone. I know it's a little sneaky, but what are the policies for Apple (I'm on Verizon) to buy the iPhone and then return it? Would I be able to use & then get back my upgrade? I just want to be sure that I'll be able to fit into the Apple ecosystem properly.

Don't you generally have 30 days to return a phone?

My best advice would to be to go to the store and spend 15 minutes with a display model and see if you like it.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm talking more about trying out the phone as in owning it and using it for a week or two. If it works then I'd just keep it but I'd like to have a way out.

You could probably get one from Craigslist and if you didn't like it you could turn it over for the same price.

Actually forget all of that. just buy a factory unlocked iPhone from the apple store and you have 2 weeks time to return it without a stocking fee. No need to go through the contract bs.

I don't think factory unlocked applies to the CDMA iPhone?

I'm eligible for an upgrade and so far I've been to the verizon store twice playing with phones. I'm probably going go back tomorrow. I'm probably going to get an iphone, but I want to spend time with all of the phones before making a final decision.

You won't be disappointed.

I second this.

verizon charges a $35 restocking fee. if you decide to buy, do it at an apple store. no restocking fee, and you get 30 days instead of 14.

I think the carriers have a 2 week return policy as well. Could always go that route.

Now it is only 15 days plus you have to pay a fee of $30 to return the phone.

I wouldn't worry about the returns policies.

Once you have used the iphone 4 properly you wont be even thinking about returning it !

If you have a friend with one see if you can try it for a few hours. Otherwise try them at the store. I believe if you buy one you have 30 days to return it but you'll be paying a restock fee which I believe is 10-15%, not sure if that's on the full price or subsidized price.

Not from Apple. Other retailers may be different though.
