Trying to avoid replacing laptop drive

My sister had graphics issues with her 2011 MBP. I removed the SSD from her machine and I would like to replace the files on my 2012 MBP with hers. I have an SSD as well. Is there any way of doing this apart from swapping out drives?
 
You could drag and drop by plugging the SSD into a USB SATA dock but swapping the drives would be the quickest way if you just want her to have your Mac.
 
Is the "2011 MBP" in question a 15" or 17" model (NOT a 13")?

If so, the "graphics issues" she's experiencing probably have less to do with the drive, and much more to do with the GPU.
