This is my setup: Airport Extreme and Mac in one corner of the living room....Airport Express (connected to Extreme in WDS) connected to home theater (airtunes) and Xbox and DirecTV at the other end of the room. Problem is that the express only has one out and I need two (for DirecTV and Xbox). Dont want to switch the ethernet chord from Xbox to DirecTV every time I want to use one or the other.

I found an old D-Link (DL-604) router that I connected the Express to, with the Xbox and DVR also connected to. Unfortunately now neither is connecting. Any advice on how/why this isn't working?

Make sure you turn DHCP OFF in the routers settings. TheD-link will try and give an IP Address in the 168.x.x.x range, vs the AE in 10.x.x.x, so that is most likely the reason it won't connect. Also, don't plug anything into the WAN port.
