I have purchased several camcorders from costco, but none of them have easy compatibility in video format when I transfer the video to the macbook. Is there any HD camcorder on the market under $1,000 that is compatible with macs? Please help!

I have the Cannon HFS 10 and its just a little north of your budget. It does HD, and i have imported my video's into iMovie 09

I have the Canon HG 20 shoot 24fps cinema, and import to iMovie. It isn't hard. Decent video, and more than good enough for YouTube.

I have two Macs at home- MBA first version, and iMac. I do the transfer via USB on the iMac.
After reading Puckhead's post, I changed setting from Cinema (though never had a problem).
