So someone said get the BT400, and for like $1 more, I got the BT500 without researching anything. Plugged it in.... and nothing. So I unplugged the factory BT power from the mobo, and tried this in both the front and rear USB ports of my 5.1. Nothing. Hrm.
- I downloaded BT Explorer from the XCode 11.4 additional tools dmg, and installed it, and nothing was showing up when I tried to activate it, as shown here: https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Setup-a-Bluetooth-Dongle-on-a-Macbook-Pro/
- I plugged it into my USB 3.0 sonnet card, and now it shows up as RealTek LocationID 30000, and so I hit activate, and now it's showing as active.
- However, my BT logo on the main menu is still scribbled out. When I go into BT settings, it shows BT as on, but I can't turn it off.
I checked the log:
Initializing Bluetooth...
BluetoothHCIReadLocalVersionInformation failed; 0xE00002D7.
Bluetooth Support Initialization complete.
Error getting HCI transport info: E00002D7 (this one repeats forever)
Looking for ideas, otherwise I'll return and get the BT400.
