I am trying to install Mac OS X 10.2 to an old iMac G3 I picked up off eBay.. the iMac came with 9.2 installed. I formatted the disk but now I am getting the following message when I come to choose a drive to install the OS.

"You cannot install Mac OS X on this disk. An earlier version of Mac OS X is not installed."

Any help would be appreciated.

It seems you have some kind of Upgrade CD.
Or what do you have exactly?

Btw, 10.3 is a much better OS than 10.2 and would also run on that iMac, maybe you can get your hands onto a RETAIL version of Panther?

It is in fact a 10.2 install disk (1 of 2), I am in the process of collecting Mac OS X install disks so I will eventually pick up a Panther install disk.. I would like to see this iMac rocking OS X today though.
