With all the talk about dropping iPhones in toilets and having "scuffed" bezels, I decided to get AppleCare+. Before I take it to the Apple Store, I'm sure it would be good to unjailbreak it, to avoid any trouble.

The problem is, I'm in iTunes and it's stuck on "Verifying iPhone Restore with Apple". My phone isn't in any weird mode, it's normal. It's just stuck. I've tried a few times and it's the same thing each time.

I'm using the latest iTunes and just used it yesterday to restore to 6.1.2 already, so I don't see why there is a problem.

same issue here...tried through itunes and then going into DFU mode with same result.......sigh....even tried 3 different pc's.

Internet access is required.
Host file must point to Apple, not Cydia
Restoring to any older firmware requires saved SHSH and is only possible on some older devices.

Type "gs.apple.com" in computer browser
If it goes to blank Apple page, host is OK
If it goes to Cydia page, host file is wrong.

I've just noticed that the iTunes update and software section is down at the moment....this may account for these issues....I can't update apps or verify purchases at the moment.

Ok thanks. I'll try again later today.

Thanks for the tip... It does go to a blank apple placeholder page.

Seems like maybe their servers are overloaded?

Never mind. Just tried again for the heck of it and it is now working normally. Must have been a server issue.

iTunes servers themselves have been very sluggish the past two weeks.

My downloads are taking FOREVER and that's with a 25Mbps landline connection.

Apple must be having issues on their end.
