Trying to restore

Hi all
Trying to restore MacBook 2007 I think.

Basically would redownloaded OS then just run through everything and then load up login screen with previous users.
Followed a help page showing to go to disc utility and then erase volume. Didn't think twice about it.
Trying to now install from a created Lion disc (from disc image etc on another unit), but won't run for whatever reason.

Any ideas bar Genius Bar?
