I know there is enough space in the HDD so why could this message pop up?
I'm guessing the rip is being directed to a small partition reserved for Windows. How can I make it rip to the Mac not the Windows?

By default ripped file is stored somewhere on your C drive, or windows install drive. There should be settings to adjust that. This varies from software to software.

You don’t need Windows to rip your CD though. XLD is a nice software that has built in CD ripping feature. iTunes can also do CD ripping, though I doubt Catalina can do that (I don’t use Catalina).

Do you have to adjust from the software itself? I directed it to a folder that I made in Mac setting in the software, but it still showed that message.

So I thought I had to change settings in Parallels itself somehow.

I dont think bootcamp solves the problem.
For Parallel, check if there is something like ”direct folder access” that allows VM to directly access a certain folder on your Mac. I dont use parallel so I’m not sure. Alternatively, you can increase VM disk size to accomodate.
CD ripping software often creates a temp folder inside your OS install drive for storing unfinished files. That temp folder location may not be changed by user.
