Hi everyone
I have a late 2010 iMac and have Bootcamp set up with 64 bit Windows 7 to run the Adobe Production suite.
I have been provided with the facility to remotely access my work computer system which is a medical system called SystmOne (not a misprint). This involves use of a USB smart card reader and a security token which as far as I can see generates a number that I use to access the system. I have a CD that installs the security/card reader software and the remote access software. Unfortunately the card reader software will only run on 32 bit versions of Windows.
Initially I wondered if I could buy a 32 bit Windows and install it on an external hard drive and boot from there when I want to use the work software, but searching forums reveals that windows will not permit this.
*
I wonder if it would be likely to work if I used a virtual machine solution such as VMFusion? But this would involve buying the virtual machine software as well as Windows. Another option would be to buy a cheap Windows laptop and use that instead.
*
So my questions are:
*
1. Is the virtual machine solution likely to work?
2. Do I have any other options besides this (apart form buying a seperate Windows machine)
Thank you
