Hoping some kind soul can offer advice!
My intel early-gen iBook snapped it's LCD, my fault, stupid stupid... So I have been trying to use my dell-brand 2405FPW as a monitor for the iBook, if only to be able to email myself important data, but also hoping to make it functional for basic use until I can afford a new laptop. To do this, as the Dell monitor has dvi and VGA but no mini display port like on the iBook, I got a miniport-to-dvi adapter. This didn't work, but it made sense as the desktop I have only seems to drive the Dell monitor via VGA, not dvi. So maybe the monitors dvi is nonfunctional, but the VGA definitely is okay. So I got a dvi to VGA adapter at staples, but still... I turn on the laptop and monitor, hit keys, click mouse, function keys, restart, try all the modes on the monitor, still nothing.
Just hoping someone can help. I realize I could rip out the laptop HD and put it in a USB enclosure, just would be good to have a working computer too (aforementioned desktop is an old dell with one foot in the grave, the other foot kicking itself in the ass). Girlfriends last workplace sucked, was nonspecifically sexual harassment issues, really want to get the letter we wrote them from this laptop so we can follow up on them stonewalling saying her complaints don't matter because she wasn't there for long enough. Would the bosses stay if their peers played "who can spank each other the hardest" at work..? All I'm saying. Thanks for your help all. Again I have an iBook, busted screen, mini display port to dvi to vga to Dell monitor... not sure why it isn't going through and recognizing and any suggestion I could try would be most appreciated!
Happy foodie holidaze, all! And to all a good buzz!
