Hello, I'm trying to connect my cannon vixia hf20 to my macbook so I can stream live video via ustream. The outputs on the camera are component out, USB out, and HDMI out. Unfortunately I don't have a firewire out on the camera and the usb doesn't seem to work either. I could really use your help because it's an expensive camera and I really want to stream with it.
-Thanks

There is no way to get the live stream unless you're connected over component or HDMI. The only way to do that is to get a converter. Maybe try the device in the link below that captures via component over USB. I'm not sure if it would allow you to connect the device to ustream, however, it may just work on their software. The best bet is to sell the camera and get their equivalent with firewire (and, subsequently, HDV tapes instead of flash storage), the HV40.

impossible with no firewire. you could workout something with hdmi but you will be surprised with the price of it=P so just buy a camera with firewire

You Can...

Download CamTwist and hook up the camera via USB.

In CamTwist just select your camera, it give's you lot's of other effect's as well.

Here is how you have to hook the camera to your computer for live streaming:
