Trying to sync iphone4 with Outlook/PC

My dad finally bought an iPhone but now he wants to sync it with his Dell. What is the best way for him to do this? He needs to sync his contacts and calendar. I live in the Apple world so I am of no help. H
Will they help him with this at the Apple Store?

Yeah, well, your topic already answers that for him.

If he has Outlook, itunes settings can be switched to sync with that.

Other than that, the sync options to yahoo and google(?) are still open to him.

Sadly, for whatever reason, there's no way to get itunes to sync with thunderbird adressbook or lightning calendar.

I'd even be happy if I could manually run an export to file via itunes and reimport manually on the pc, and vice versa.

Just found out my dad uses microsoft exchange so the process should be easier then right? I don't have his computer or phone here to help him though. Can it just sync over the air like mobile me?
