So apparently Apple has put out a new version of software for the 6th gen nano.

Sweet, it has capabilities for me to manually tell the Nano to shut off.

I tell it to go ahead and update. It gives me an error saying I do not have permissions and links me to a page that doesn't even list that error. I'm using a 2010 MBP 13" base model if that makes any difference (running Snow Leopard).

I update itunes just in case it is that, still same error.

Why won't it update and what can I do to fix that?

You could try a restore, then update. That may clear the issue with it.

Thanks for the reply. It was a good idea but it won't even let me restore it (same thing, "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod, "Kimblee". You do not have enough access privledges for this operation.").

Doesn't really help but I'm getting the same error.

I caved and took it to the Apple store (as well as my Mac). He had no clue what was up with my Mac (cause pretty sure the problem is there) but he just installed the OS on it from his computer (and then I re-synched my songs).
