Trying to upgrade 10.4.11 to 10.5.8

I have a PowerBook g4 1.5ghz with 2gb of ram. I did a clean install of 10.5 and then tried to upgrade to 10.5.8. The computer wouldn't boot after that. I reinstalled 10.5 then upgraded to 10.5.1, can I get to .8? Ive read a lot of older threads that .8 was an issue with older macs, am I in that category?

I have 10.5.8 on my G5

I had 10.5.8 on my 12" PowerBook but 10.4.11 performed so much better it's back on..
