Trying to use a Plextor PX-708UF external player with Lion

Granted, this external CD/DVD burner is old, but it was hardly used. I'd like to use it with my iMac (intel), running Lion. The computer doesn't recognize it. I tried downloading Patchburn, but it won't run on my computer (program is too old).

Any ideas? Thanks.
