Does anyone here use a MacBook Pro to write code and find themselves accidentally brushing against the touch bar at times?

Out of ALL the reviews I watched on the MacBook Pro 16 nobody mentioned this, now when I search I found the following listed in the link below.

Aside from putting electrical tape over it, is there a way to disable the touchbar or make it black so if it is accidentally touched it does not interrupt my workflow?

Happens quite often. I almost never accidentally hit the function keys but this is a 'feature' Apple decided to bestow upon us. I got rid of my 13" touchbar for a non-Touchbar model.

Fortunately, I just end up with a screen brightness or volume change when it happens.

I never have a problem accidentally missing a key and hitting the touchbar. It is flat and out of the way. On the 2015 and older MacBook Pros I occasionally hit a function key.

Just a matter of getting used to it. Otherwise, you can use an app like Pock to create a blank template for the touch bar and run the app while you're typing.

I use BTT to customize my touch bar. I have the top left portion (about 100px) blanked out for this same reason. Works well.

I'm a writer and I hit it ALL THE TIME. It interferes with my flow; I have to stop and fix whatever I've just done, from accidentally italicized or bolded characters to getting back out of launchpad. All it takes is a slight brush and you've activated something you didn't intend. I'll have to get one of those third party (I just ended up in launchpad while typing this very sentence) Touch Bar apps.

I really despise the Touch Bar. For me it's a distraction and a hindrance. I'm a disciplined typist. I type fast and accurately and still hit that PITA TB from time to time.

Yes, this happens to me several times per hour when using the MBP 16", it's one of the reasons I'll be returning it. The best fix I've found so far is to use BTT, create a single very wide button that covers the entire touch bar, and leave it blank. That effectively disables the touch bar.

You could leave the button action blank, but I have this button set to restore the "original" touch bar when pressed, so I can still adjust brightness and volume; then I have an extra icon added to the original set that goes back to the single very wide button. That way I can turn the entire bar on and off as I wish. However, my fingers still accidentally touch it very frequently, temporarily turning the entire touch-bar back on.

Very annoying. Apple doesn't usually make major usability mistakes like this, or when it does, they usually fix them more quickly.

The only key I have had problems with on my 2016 MBP was the ESC key.

With that now being mechanical, accidental key presses are no longer a problem.
