Does any one have a shortcut for switching tabs in safari like cmd tab for apps but for safari tabs.

If that doesn't work for you, for any particular reason, you can also use Apple-} or { ... those are actually the shortcuts listed in the Window menu. But I use the left and right arrow keys as described above. 
But to do that, you also have to hold down the shift key because { is on the top part of the key. Yes, that's correct, assuming this is how your keyboard is configured. I'm not sure this relationship is the same on non-US KB's....
