Just a warning to fellow Monterey users. I just purchased TurboTax 2024 and learned that it needs Ventura or newer. I have a Late 2015 27 inch iMac with 12.7.6. I'm not adventurous enough to try to upgrade this to Ventura. Luckily I have a laptop that TurboTax 2024 will run on.

Yes, I noticed that too AFTER I bought and downloaded the app and tried to install it. My 2017 iMac was running well on Monterey and I usually try to not fix something that isn’t broken but I caved and updated to Ventura. Update went well, TurboTax installed, and everything seems ok after 1 day’s use.

Side note: I don’t like the Systems Settings change to a long list in the UI, and I REALLY don’t like the pale gray font used everywhere now. I’ve changed the contrast but except for reversing the image (to white text against a black background) there is no way that I’ve found to make text darker in normal modes. Crazy.

I think this is Intuit being too lazy/cheap to test their software on older MacOS. There is nothing inherently complex about income tax software that requires a more modern OS.

Could be, don’t have any evidence either way, but this is the 2nd time TurboTax has required a macOS update on my 2017 iMac. The first time was a few years ago when TT wouldn’t install on Mojave and I had to update to Monterey. And here I am again but with Ventura now. I guess the next time I’ll need a new(er) iMac.

It's pretty insane that TurboTax considers 3 year old software to be too old. It must be due to the end of Apple updates. TurboTax doesn't want to get sued if someone on Monterey gets hacked.

I work for "top 50" company of the Fortune 500 and we are still using Windows 10. Granted, that still receives updates...for now. Wouldn't be surprised if we sign up for the "extended support" by October.
