I remember being able to see the map while using turn by turn directions on watchOS — during navigation you could swipe left and it would show your location on the map just like the phone does while you’re in Maps getting directions. Am I crazy or did Apple remove this?
 
The map is still there, there is an image at the bottom of the Directions screen on the Watch. If you double click on this map image, you go to the Map view. If you click the Location icon in the lower left, it will show a Map with your starting point marked and ready to show map updates as you follow the directions.

Wow thank you so much... I don’t know how anyone was ever going to find that other than trial and error.
