I've complained about some facets of iOS6 recently, in particular the clunkiness of Passbook. And yes, the 3D mapping has major problems. But I used the turn-by-turn directions for the first time today and they were fantastic. I started by putting in an address, really enjoyed how you could still use the phone for other tasks and a little bar remained at the top, and the street maps (I used regular maps, which I find most useful; don't need satellite for this) were very functional.
Once I made my first stop, I was somewhere from which I didn't know how to get to the place I drive every day. So I asked Siri: "Take me to ______." And it worked great.
So far, so good.
