iPod touch Turn my 32gb 3G iPod Touch into a phone

I am going to use skype to make calls, by buying some skype credit. Will people be able to call me? But I also want to be able to text people and them be able to text me back as a number (eg 555-565-7895). I am located in Canada, if that causes some problems.

People can call you if you purchase a skype number. Of course people will only be able to reach you when you are logged onto skype but you can set skype to forward calls to another phone number if you have a cell or a home phone
 
Basically, people can call you if you're connected to WIFI and you have skype on all the time (this prbly drains a lot of battery). For text, have you considered Google Voice?
 
I'm a student so most of the time I'm at my friends house, home or school. All 3 have wifi, as do most stores I go to.
 
You understand that you have to be logged into Skype in order to receive a call, don't you? If you let the touch go to sleep, you won't be logged in anymore. Plus, if you keep the touch on all the time, it will drain the battery really quickly.

Email would be more reliable.

thats anoying, is there a way round the skype app not working when the ipod is asleep? I would like to be able to receive a call without having to arrange a specific time before hand!

It's called buying an iPhone.

If you want your iPod touch to be an iPhone that badly, then buy an iPhone.

i have almost accomplished this in a way...

at my university

we have wi-fi and i have been in a park before and received wi-fi!

i have been inside my car, in a parking lot near the university and received wi-fi!

idk about the golf course, but i have been in a soccer field. hahaha

i want it so bad, you have no idea. anyway, there is a way to do it if I jailbreak it, a little research saved me buying a 2 year contract as I'm usually always close to wi-fi.
