Hey guys. I just got my first Apple TV (4K) set up and I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn it off but leave the TV on. If I press the power button on the ATV it says to hold to turn everything off. And sure enough, that's what it does. But is there a way to leave the TV on so I can use it with say, my Nintendo Switch?

It occurs to me that I've got this all wrong and that there's some benefit to leaving the Apple TV on always. So if that's the case, I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Why do you need to turn the Apple TV "off"? There's no real "off" mode anyways. There's just a sleep mode.

You can just set the apple tv to automatically sleep after a while and switch inputs to your Nintendo switch so you can play. But what MacManiac76 says will work and do what you want.

Thanks for the help guys! I think I'll be able to figure out a workable solution with what you have suggested. I did notice that the ATV went to sleep after a while.

Go into Settings->Remotes and Devices then turn Off Control TVs and Receivers.
Good to know I can turn this off.

I guess I don't need to. It's just force of habit to turn things off when I'm not using them. Sleep works.

Yup. I think I just got flustered by the fact I couldn't just turn it off. Switching inputs works and I should have thought of that.
