Anyone know how to turn off the little buttons that pop up when you mouse over icons in OSX, as in the screenshot attached?

I've tried to google this answer but failed.

Thanks for your help!

Interesting!
What do those arrows indicate? More than one page in a document?
How do you get them to come on? (Doesn't happen on my Mac with Yosemite)

Ah thanks Dave, that did it!

I just find it a bit annoying if I'm trying to double click on a file to open it, I end up clicking on one of these arrows instead. I got my first Mac 5 years ago and just recently upgraded to the iMac Retina, and forgot how I had turned this off.
