Since Apple killed the Dock (yes I’m still salty about it) I make use of the area from swiping up on the home screen to see the Smart Stack and my 3 pinned apps.

But it irks me to no end that half of the first screen is taken up by a clock of all things. I mean, I’m swiping away from the clock on my main screen specifically to see other information, so why am I forced to see this one?

Is there a way to turn it off? I haven’t found one but find it hard to believe that Apple is forcing us to have it.

nope, stupid as stupid can be.
If you use the grid view for your apps and rearrange them in a way that your favorite are on the "top" screen - imho that works better than the dock

I use the list view because it’s much easier and faster when the lesser-used apps are needed (because I always spend ages hunting for them in the grid)

Removing the dock was an odd choice, as is limiting us to 3 apps that we can pin and those apps excluding third party apps

Double clicking the crown will bring up a dock of sorts. You'll can scroll through previous used apps or shut them with a swipe to the left.

I use this a lot but it’s inferior to the dock
