Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off FaceTime camera off on the macOS and use the app for voice calls only?

The idea is that I use my headset and found it very convenient to simply dial from my Mac, but I don't like that the camera pops up every time. I would simply like to make voice calls only from my mac.

Second, is there a way to monitor microphone input aside from third-party apps or launching garage band?
